Coffee & Convo with Daniel Stanton

Coffee & Convo welcomes CITY of CHAMPIONS author Daniel Stanton.

Daniel, what genre is CITY of CHAMPIONS?

I would say it falls under the Suspense / Thriller genre, although at times I feel like it could just as easily be in the Mystery / Detective genre as well.

Is CITY of CHAMPIONS part of a series?

I am currently writing another book with some of the same main characters but I try to write each one as a stand alone story.

Tell us a little bit about CITY of CHAMPIONS.

This book is the story of an ex Special Forces operative that has returned home to a city on the South Shore of Massachusetts. It is told in first person from the point of view of the main character Morgan Cole. He is working as a private investigator when his older brother, the last family he has left alive, is murdered. Before he can start to try to understand why, three more people are killed in the exact same horrifying manner. The story that follows is a fast paced and gritty account of his seeking the people responsible and carrying out a brutal form of what I would have to call "outlaw justice".

What do you think readers will enjoy most about CITY of CHAMPIONS?

That's a difficult question for me to answer. I put a great deal of myself into my writing. My sincerest hope is that people will enjoy the story enough to truly lose themselves in it as a whole and finish wanting more.

Where can we find CITY of CHAMPIONS?

The book is available at Smashwords (www.smashwords.com/books/view/56977) and at the Amazon Kindle Store (www.amazon.com/dp/b00514ksi4)

Tell us a little about yourself.

I am 43 years old and have spent the majority of my life in and around law enforcement, corrections, crime and the like. I try to pull from my life experiences for my stories. I grew up in what can best be described as a working class city where everyone knew how to fight and did so often. I've been writing since I was a child but never really considered sharing it as it wasn't something to be "proud" of in my neighborhood. I love to write and consider myself to be a professional storyteller. I have a wonderful wife and two handsome sons that serve as my inspiration to succeed in life. I am thrilled to self publish in ebook form and look forward to great things in this format.

Why did you decide to become an Indie author?

I truly believe that this form of publishing / reading is only going to grow and am happy to be involved in the early stages.

Is this your debut novel?

This is my first published work.

Any future writing plans you wish to share with us.

I have several stories I am working on and I try to focus on whichever one is speaking to me at the time. My next title will be a followup to CITY of CHAMPIONS, my current and only title available publicly. After that I plan to spread my wings a bit and publish in other genres. (Sci-Fi / Superhero stories in progress)

Thank you so much for being with us today, Daniel.
